O’Brien’s Riverwalk Cafe

The JGMA team designed O'Brien's Riverwalk Café and Restaurant project offered the design team a unique and highly trafficked location next to the prestigious Chicago River. The design intentionally responds to this context by mimicking the river in more ways than one. The façade, which not only replicates the natural tonality of the river; also angles itself to be a mirror to the water below, shimmering in the natural daylight of the water reflected sun. The form also mimics the shape of Chicago's famed water taxi; which is representative of both the water and its public transportation for the people of Chicago.
