The vision for this new mixed-use high-rise building is intended to raise the bar of what development should look like in the South Shore neighborhood. The site is located on the corner of South Exchange Ave and East 72nd Street with proximity to the future Obama Presidential Center and has the potential for a significant positive impact on that community.
The 22-story, 170,000 square foot tower is designed to serve as an anchor for the neighborhood while bringing new architectural and cultural vision to the community. The project features an iconic wrapping façade that integrates the base of the building, twisting up through the tower where it eventually meets the top overhang. The dynamic movement through the façade creates a series of sculptural colored balconies with unobstructed views of the city’s lakefront and downtown.
The tower was intentionally located on the eastern edge of the site to create a public plaza for the community and consider the adjacent residential streetscape along Yates Blvd.
Programmatically, the building includes a diverse variety of uses including retail at the ground level, above ground parking, hotel at the mid-rise, apartments at the high-rise and a series of outdoor amenity levels that create a transitional space between the building’s multi-uses. The project also features a large indoor rooftop and terrace with city views from all sides.
